need help!!!!!!!!!!

sampling it means that you have an analog signal and you need to convert it to digital to be able to do processing on it this is done by devices like ADC analog to digital converters, which take samples from this analog signal every T seconds and as more as t is high you will not lose a lot of information of this analog signal its minimum value fs>2fm it means that the minium frequency you can sample with must be greater than twice the analog signale to be able to reconstruct the original signal again, aliasing it means that the signal has distortion when you smple it prehaps you are not take in account the minum sample frequency.

Re: need help!!!!!!!!!!

we know that other than passband, all the operations, computations, decision almost everything in the baseband is done on digital signals i.e. digital form of the analog signal.
now the porcess of converting analog signal to digital is done by devices like ADC.
these devices takes the samples of the analog signal as a frequency not lesser than twice the operating frequency of the analog siganl i.e. fs >= 2fm ..
where fs = sampling frequnecy and
fm = frewunecy of the analog signal ..
and this is the minimum criteria .. u can sample at any rate may be 3fm, 4fm ..10fm ... depending on how accurately u want to reconstruct the signal at the other end but with computational overhead. this porcess is called as sampliing

now, if u carry out the sampling at sampling frequency fs<2fm ... u ill have very small number of smaples to recontrsuct the original siganl .. this condition is called as aliasing ...

cheers ...

Re: need help!!!!!!!!!!

why we need to sample a signal, conv, fft, and filter..

if anybody knows please tell me step wise why we need these parameters in signals, during signal analysis....

best regards

Re: need help!!!!!!!!!!

aliasing is only an other way, the let the intepretation of the signal esier, like in the time frq representation

Re: need help!!!!!!!!!!

please tell how to work with sampling and alising

need help!!!!!!!!!!

why do you want exactly to do?
are you using a software ?

if we need to convert a signal from the analog format to digital format, we can't do this without sampling
so sampling comes first then the conversion

Re: need help!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Man sampling and aliasing can be found in any signal processing book, I would sugest the signal processing book by Sanjeet K. Mitra.

Re: need help!!!!!!!!!!

For sampling: Oppenhein's book
For Aliasing: Boashash's articles and book
