Hi All
I am just wondering is it possible to use netlist to do a spectral analysis of a output signal?

If it is possible, can someone please give me a simple example of how to do that?

If not, can some one please give me some resources on how to do the spectral analysis of a circuit?

Thanks

Re: spectral analysis

Do you mean using the netlist to run simulation just like Hspice?

Re: spectral analysis

there seems be instructions in hspice to implement the spectral analysis.

i use Matlab to spectrally analyse the output signal, i use spectre

Re: spectral analysis

Thanks for the response

Yes, I hope to use netlist to run simulation.

Is Hspice a software that I can download for free?

thanks

Re: spectral analysis

1.export the netlist: icfb---export---cdl
2.change the netlist to spectre format
3.run spectre: spectre netlist

Is this what you want?

Re: spectral analysis

U can use (fft) icon at simulation toolbar

Re: spectral analysis

Thanks for the response

I searched spectre online and it says it's part of the cadance software which I don't have.

I only have LTspice, student version of PSpice and multisim(which I know how to simulate the spectral analysis but I have a lot of trouble getting my circuit to simulate lately)

Can either LTspice or student version of PSpice create FFT?

Thanks
