hi ,
can any one pls clarify the following doubt
Interface an 8 bit µP with two 8Kx8 RAM chips. What would you do if A0, A1 are interchanged in h/w for only one memory chip. What’d you do in case of PROMs in case of RAMs?

Thanks
MRK

hai , on what project u using not mentioned any how the signals for rom or RAm is same to interface to Up like if ur up is 8085 which is 8 bit is haveing 16bit Address A0 to A15 , so if u want to interface two method 1) IO Mapped IO 2) Memory Mapped IO.

II u ased for the interchange of A0 & A1 then logic is how u connceted these addrss pins to CS,WR,RD,OE, AD ,pins so i think u connected A0 A1 to ram of A1,A0 respctly so Memory data is junk read which u wnat to read from memory.

hi,
thank u.
its not from project , its interview question.
anyway thanks.
can u pls send me some materials on micro processor memory interfacing for quicck reference.

Thanks
MRK

It doesn't matter, because the data write into and read from the chip from the same way! So what you get is same as what you put.

What’d you do in case of PROMs instead of RAMs?
Data is writen into PROM with standard PROM programmer which has normal address bus arrangement, you'll read the worng data if you read content of PROM from a unproper arranged address bus board.

Please googling with "memory interfacing" key word, there are many resource about that.
