Why we need to use Modelsim along with Quartus in Altera?

BOth altera and xilinix are distributing modelsim .. Am i right ?
Do Both the versions are equally good?

Added after 19 minutes:

One more doubt... why need to use modelsim along with quartus in altera designa.. i think quartus have enough tools... I am a newbie.. forgive me if i made a mistake... Plz reply...

I think both versions of modelsim are suitable.
Modelsim is for simulation of codes. I mean some expression in modelsim couldnt implement in fpga.
 

Modelsim qn

Altera and Xilinx provide a "light" version of ModelSim. It is fine for small projects, but it has some limitations and runs much slower than the full version of ModelSim. However, ModelSim PE costs around $5000, and ModelSim SE costs around $20000 US.

my qn is whether i can find all facilities of modelsim in quartus.. if so then why use them seperately?


what are the other method of simulations in modelsim other than waveform.. i dont understand it... plz reply..
