varley loop test

Refer to "Electronic Instruments and Measurements" by L.D. Jones, Murray loop testand Varley loop test are both used to locate faults (ground fault, short-circuit, etc) in cables.

Questions:
1) Pls share if you have more information about both tests.
2) What are the advantages of Murray loop test compared to Varley loop test, or vice versa?

Thanks.

murray loop test

1- they are based on balancing a bridge ,one terminal is grounded, other is on the cable by knowing the resistance/ lengthn of the cable , neglecting the earth resistance we know the position of the faults
2- the first is more accurate then the second no thing more ( or the verse i dont accuratly remember but i think that is it)
