reducing output of transformer

hi ......
i have a transformer that has output of around 12 v and now i need to produced output voltage of 6 volt using some circuit combination how i do it.......?

please help me...

what kind of output you need?? AC or DC

if you need DC output you can use a diode bridge with a voltage regulator (LM7806)

if you only need AC output, you can use a voltage divisor

I hope this can help you

Hi

If you need dc you can use a circuit like this **broken link removed**

biw if you need ac, I would disassemblu tje tramsformer and take a middle point from the secondary , it is a hard job but effective, besides you get as much amperage as possible

Remember you must put a thermal disipator in the regulator if you want fiability and durability in your circuit

u can use another smaller transormer to reduce the voltage for ac
and for dc u can use one of the rectifiers .

If it is stepdown transformer 220-12VAC and then you need 6VAC so you can:

1. Plug this transformer to 110VAC outlet instead of 220VAC as usually.
or:
2. at secondary winding, connect in series with the load a resistor of the same resistance with your load. Of course you need to use the right resistor with the suitable power dissipation.

Of course the best solution is buying the new 6VAC transformer, it is really not hard to be found nowadays.

u can use a potential divider network..right?
also it depend on whether u need ac or dc o/p.
u can also use ac volatage controller r diode dridge.

Hi!

A fast solving (not a humour):

Put a small power (trying!!) 220v filament lamp serially to the primer circuit!
But you must measure the output voltage at your load (first a resistor only)!!
