picstart 16b upgrade

I have seen a while ago that there was a freely available Phoenix firmware upgrade for the older PICStart16B1 programmer...

Anyone seen this lately? Newfound Electronics doesn't support it anymore and are not supplying it for download.


Also I would like to know if someone used the Microchip sample code to access the PICStart 16B under Linux/WindowsXP.


Otherwise....I aready ordered parts for PicStarter+ (o;
