Hi Friends,
I have doubt regarding the Burst Length Used in the Sdram Controllers. In the DDR Sdram controller we can use burst length of 2,4,8 ......For DDR2 we can use 4,8 and in the DDR3 we can use burst length of 8......according to the specifications in the Altera Controller.........Here I have the doubt How this Burst length is decided.......means if I use the DDR2 , and if
Case 1. if I use the data width at user side is 16 bit....
Case 2. If I use the datawidth of 32 bit.......

Q1.In both cases can I use the burst length of 4,8 or for different sizes of input it varied?
Q2. What I really need how this Burst length is decided bze for different DDR's it is different why?

Thanks in advance..............

burst size and width of the data bus are not related to each other. burst type, size are setting up during DRAM init. It is your desision as designer what is desired width (ie, how many DRAM chips you) need
