Hi,

Can any body help me to know basics about GSM modem
and the functionality of GSM modem.
How it can be interfaced to microcontroller
How is communication process undergoes in this GSM modem.

GSM Modem:
+ Telit GM862 GPRS www.telit.co.it/modules.asp
+WaveCom Q2501
+Motorola G20
+Simcom
All modem use AT command, and can connecting to microcontroler through UART.

There is another communication equipment called GSM Module, basically its a communication machine to build Cell Phone or GSM Modem

Above device is not a GSM Modem, but GSM Module

Do u have the datasheet of the module?
U need the datasheet to find out about the pin connections and signalling b/w the microcontroller and the module
After that u can simply use AT commands to make calls or read sms etc.
