Hi

I am planning on installing Mandrake for EDA tools....

As anyone else i would like to have the latest version OS..

Please tell if there are some major problems in Mandrake for EDA installtion

And Also if There is a list of EDA tool that can be run on Mandrake 9.0/9.1

and if not then on 8.0

What area of EDA do you want to pursue? You can have EAGLE <http://w*w.cads*ft.de> to make PCB, but that is jut about it. At the chip level, there is no lack of tools: synopsys, mentor, you name it.

You should see the glibc of Mandrake,
EDA design in rh7.2 used glibc2.2.4,
so if glibc is 2.2.* it may work well,
but if glibc is 2.3.* ,i think don't use
it ,eda tools will not work well such as
RH9.0(which glibc is 2.3.2).
Becase glibc 2.3 has change a lot,so
a lot of soft will not work well.
you can try any linux which is used glibc2.2*.

i use mandrke9.0. most eda tools work well on it.
c@dence(ldv4.1, ic5.0)
$ynop$y$(dc, pt, tmx)
m&ntor(ms, ic, cal)

PCB & shematic for Linux.

Hi z81203

I also want to run the same tools as you have written..

Didn,t you encounter the gclib problem as stated by others.. or is there a work around ??

mandrke9.0 glibc is 2.2.5 ,so it can
work well ,but mandrke9.1 is use
glibc 2.3.1.

Can we do this:
For example, install RH 9 except its glibc, then add a glibe 2.2.x in. is it possible?

I think it will not work, becase program
in linux run need glibc,if you don't
install glibc then all program will
not work.(such as "ls" and "cp").
glibc like the dll of windows.
you can use "ldd" to see the program
use which glibc.

Synopsys on Dell Precision 360 (875P chipset)

I have installed RedHat 7.2 as reccomended and have Synopsys dc_shell and CoCentric System Studio installed and running.

I would however like to upgrade to RedHat 9.0 or Mandrake 9.1 as I have a brand new Dell Precision 360 which uses the 875P chipset, which is equipped with a ST312023AS SATA drive (Windows XP) which I currently have to disable via the BIOS in order to boot Linux (I then boot from a second IDE drive with Linux partitions on it). Also the USB and other aspects of the 875P chipset are not supported by 7.2.

On the other hand I have heard people say that vcs will not run under anything greater than 7.2 ... is this true.

My design flow is:

Synopsys CoCentric + vcs
l
\/
dc_shell + sc_shell
l
\/
xilinx 5.2i ISE (using Wine)

I would be grateful for any advice on which Linux I can upgrade to and recognise all of my hardware without compromising on my design-flow.

I am the user of Mandrake 9.1 and I can run modelsim and ldv well, but running modelsim will be failed in RH8 or RH8 when using the same source of license file. I don't know why, did anyone get the same problem ? ;)
