Added after 1 minutes:

I forgot to tell that i am talking about scripts which are being used in the verifiaction of the rtl and even in sta and mbist also i think scripts are used

Re: SCRIPTS

We need scripts to automate our processes. If we dont use sripting, we do the things manually which can take a great deal of time and efforts. Scripting is very important for EDA industry.

I think, TCL and Perl are among the most popular scripting languages.

Re: SCRIPTS

Yes SCRIPTing is mainly used to automate things and reduce our effots adn time.........

suppose to run a testbench ....we require some commans to be run.....instead we write a script to run the testbench......

good luck.........

Re: SCRIPTS

hello,

We need Scripts to make every thing automated .. most of the scripting languages are in TcL, the major EDA tools like that of synopsys supports TcL. scripts are use ful at all level all stages of ASIC flow .. its much easier to have well prepapred scripts to try for diff. benchmarks and designs

Re: SCRIPTS

Scripting a very heart of VLSI Industry in Verification and synthesis process

for verifying the designs you need to write simulation or regression scripts so that most of the tasks are automated ( mostly used is Perl)

also when you work with synthesis,it requires scripting to workout for timing violation checks ,latches infer checks etc.,(mostly used is Tcl)

SCRIPTS

for verification perl is most used n TCL is used in almost all tools of Synopsys n soc encounter !!

TCL is tool command language
perl practical extraction and reporting language
perl has strong text processing utility

for automation of verification process like generation of stimulus and comparing response with reference output...
opening files n handling thm is easy with perl

Re: SCRIPTS

Perl is another good Scripting Language which extracts and reports.
