best way of controlling dc motor

wut is the best way for speed control of a DC motor>??

If your motor does not compensate high currents (small DC motors like that of a cassette) you can use a DAC connected to a power transistor. Else go for a PWM but it adds non-linearities.

see datasheet of LM629 or LM628 might be useful!
