qfn soldering

I have experience hand soldering fine pitch TQFP IC's (208 pin 0.5mm)

I want to try the hot new generation tiny Chip Scale Packages
e.g 32-Lead "Lead Frame Chip Scale Package" from Analog Devices.
Also known as QFN (Quad Flat No Lead), MLFP (Micro Lead Frame Plastic) and several fancy names.
They are basically 0.5mm pitch IC's resembling a miniatuised PLCC.

The inward bending of the leads is what makes me scary.

Is it manually solderable? If not I will not be able to use it in my design.

Any and all sharing of valuable experience regarding this new package is appreciated.

soldering qfn

If soldering the center paddle could be ignored, it is practiclly no different from a TQFP.

If heat sinking is required then, you may add a little silicon grees to the centre paddle.

The attached application note on hand soldering QFN will give an overall idea...

/Deleted. Take it from the link below. (klug)/
