bicubic interpolation examples

how the interpolated point is calculated in bicubic interpolation using the sixteen points. is it the average value or something else. please elaborate in detail and if any formula is used for the interpolated point , plz let me know...

bicubic interpolation b-spline

bicubic interpolation is separable (X & Y) cubic B-spline interpolation
Cubic-spline (3-d order peacewise polinomial) could be calculated for any 4 points in different ways
