Hi,
I am designing a 4 layer board and am facing some problems while using Autoroute of Protel DXp 2004.

1. Which strategy of autorouting is the best one to choose? I chose via miser . There are other options as well. Can someone suggest me under which cinditions should i use a specific strategy.

2. After autorouting, i get a message that 6 nets could not be connected. I have about 300 nets and the problem starts now. I want to move some compoents here and there on the board to ensure that all nets are connected. But its getting way too cluttered for me to do so. Is there anyway where i can reset autoroute such that all routes are cleared and i re-adjust my components and start auto route again? i tried using reset option in the software but it wasnt useful. Is there some other way that i am missing? Or can someone advice me as to how to go about under such circumstances.

Thanks
Naveen

Help Using Autoroute in P*otel DXP 2004

I doubt without knowing anything about your board someone can recommend a strategy for you but whe autorouter fails it ususally has one of the following reasons
1- Some rules prevent autorouter to succeed you have to review all the rules
2- density of your board is too much, you have to make room for autorouter

Ok..how do i reset all the routes? Is there any other way than to discard the board after some errors and start all over again with manual placement of the parts.

When you are in PCB go to Menu Tools>Un-route>All

Thanks a lot!!! I must have been blind not to notice this earlier!!! Anyways, this sure has saved me a lot time as i have already spent hours on discarding the PCB and manually placing the components..phew
