srf04 schematic

Is the firmware for SRF04 - Devantech Ultrasonic Ranger available ?
I have seen the schematic on the Devantech site, but unable to locate the firmware to make it work !

Can the firmware from the PIC on the SRF04 - Devantech Ultrasonic Ranger be read out ? Or is it code protected ?

Has someone tried making a clone of the Devantech SRF04 Ultrasonic Ranger or something similar ?

This looks like a fun project to do... but timing issues seems to be extremely critical...

If no one has made a clone before, is any one interested ?

That's what I want to know... Devantech site clearly states that the firmware has changed...

But anyways, can you give me the link to the firmware you are talking about so I know if are are talking about the same thing ?

srf04 clone

if you notice in the firmware for the SRF04, you will see that the code is OLD code... many changes havee been made to that code since!

My question is, does anyone have the recent code... or is the code extractable from the onboard PIC ?

I am also interested in devices like the SRF04, but the SRF04 is most widely used, and thus, most tested module.[/u]

I think that the old things is not good...
Taiwan's prowave offers SRM400 - Car Reversing Aids (0.25 - 1.5 meters)

This is smaller and cheaper than SRF04 ...
(1000 modules -> about 10$/EA)

but small quantity price is not good...

Good price . Just keep in mind that sensor used in this module designed for car parking aid . It is visible from beam pattern.
BTW, what is the price of prowave sensors and MOQ? I send them mail and no response received . We dont have local distributor. In comparision murata's sensors costs about 8 usd (same type of sensors). Others (protected enclosure) do cost more .
