Hello, I use protel DXP 2004 build 8.0.4.1272. For grouping nets in net classes I used to assign net labels to nets in schematic and then I would go to PCB and in Design>Classes I would arrange thoes net labels as classes to assign rules between them until today that I read an interesting post in this forum that suggests life is even more comfortable than I would imagine.

To add your class on the schematic, go to the page for the nets that you have in your class. Select Place>Directives>Net Class. Hit 'Tab' when the 'net class' label is floating on the cursor, and enter your information. Now attach the class to the wire(s) for your net class.

You can also set up your net class by going to Project>Project Options>Class Generation. Check the box at the bottom of the page in the section "User-Defined Classes". Read the information that pops up when the box is checked.
but my happiness did not last for too long when I found out that in my protel DXP 2004 in Place>Directives there is no net classes. I have only No ERC, Probe, Test Vector Index, Stimulus, PCB Layout and parameter set. and also in Project>Project Options, I do not have Class generation. So dose it mean that I have to accept life as it used to be? Is there any way that I can group nets in schematics in net classes?
Thank you very much.

Either you have a very old version of DXP2004, or you have somehow altered your menu. In DXP2004 with SP4, 'Net Classes' is in the 'Place>Directives' menu just below 'PCB Layout'.

If you have a version of DXP2004 older than SP4, you should update it - the service packs are free. If you have SP4 installed, then your menu structure has been somehow changed. You can set your menus and toolbars back to factory default by doing the following:
Browse to the folder "\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Altium"

and delete the following files:

DXP.RCS
DXP.RAF

DXP will rebuild these files to factory default the next time you start the program.
