Hi, all

I am a new user of PrimePower (primepower/2006.06-SP1). The first steps to do power analysis in PrimePower are "set search_path" and "set link_library", but I don't have an idea about which technology library I should use, let along the path of the library. Where can I get these information?

Besides, there should be a specification defined for parasitics, and it is going to be used with the command "read_parasitics". Could you also please give me a hint that, where can I find this "xxx.spef." file?

Thanks a lot!

Hi ,

Parasitics info should come from extraction tool . when you do layout in Magma/Austro or any other p&r tool you give layout info to extraction tool like Caliber/StarRCXT ... then it will give spef ....

Regarding search_path & link_path , you need specify your technology library ...

Thanks & Regards
yln

Thank you very much, yln.

I am doing RTL and Gate-level power analysis of VHDL and Verilog designs. Nothing to do with the layout. So it is not possible for me to add parasitics at all?

I knew that I should specify the technology library, but I don't know what libraries I have, and neither their path. Can I find these information somewhere from synopsys tool? Or these libraries are provides from the third party? Should I ask the tool administrator about what libraries he has installed?

Help me please! Any one give me more detail information? It is really urgent!

Thanks!

You cannot not know your libraries.

Check in your folder for *.db files , these are you libraries.

Typically there will be many versions depending on temperature, parasitics, voltage characterisation etc

In my opinion, PP can't do power analysis in RTL phase.

pp can do power analysis at RTL level also but you have to provide netlist and vcd file from functional simulation
