Note:
(1) all five Nmos transistors have same lengh.
(2)all five Nmos gates are connected together.
(3)the first Nmos drain is connected to gate.

thanks.

samuel.

I suggest it serves for bias purpose. For example, bias of high-swing cascode current mirror. First nmos in sat. region gives Vth1+Vov1, and others in triode region gives +Vov2. Together Vth1+Vov1+Vov2 properly bias cascode nmoss in cascode current mirror.
I think so.

this setup is used for bias purpose. when a drain of a transistor is connected to its gate u can replace that as a resistor.(transistor is in saturation)

Diode connected transistor could be called
active resistor and could be used for
volatge divide . so my opinion is the same
with ohter people's

it's a diode-connected transistor with L=5*L1, where L1 is the length of one transistor.

This is a biasing circuit.
And will be used for current bias.
I think the diode connected should be placed in the middle so that there will be equal distribution of current to all other.

I have encoutered this kind of structure too!
But I am still confused.

You can refer gray's book, the chapter discussing the high-swing cascode current mirror.

:)
in circuit option, here is just one MOS!!
don't worry ,don't wonder!

Hi,
You have no told about the source connection of any of the transistors.

As far as I can see the first NMOS (drain gate connected), so it will act as resistor.

So as far ass I can see the whole structure will work as current mirror.

thanks
