Hi,
I want to perform Monte carlo analysis on my designs using Spectre tools.
What is the step by step procedure for it.
Is there any need to get some design kits from Foundry.

Thanks
shaikh sarfraz

Re: Monte carlo Analysis

u can go to designers-guide.com and check out the procedure given there.

Monte carlo Analysis

of course. You should get the PDK from the foundry to support your simulation

Re: Monte carlo Analysis

hi,
I know that I need design kits from foundry.
But apart from that for performing Monte Carlo analysis do I need some other files. Since monte carlo analysis is a statistical method, so during simulation do I need to include some other files.

thanks
sarfraz

Re: Monte carlo Analysis

I also wanted to learn about monte carlo analysis...

Hope some have a file about it?

Re: Monte carlo Analysis

For doing the monte carlo analysis you need give the following
information

1) which node you want to check (for example if you are checking for the
offset in the comparator circuit then give the node name and the voltage
at what point it has to be monitored)

2) Choose the number of runs as 100

3) Define the correlations if you use current mirrors then select the schematic
and give the factor as 0.9

Then start the simulation to run.

It will give the graphical information about the standard deviation .

Re: Monte carlo Analysis

U require statistical mismatch models from the foundry

Re: Monte carlo Analysis

Hi,

How do I get the statistical mismatch model from the foundry.
Are they readily available on the Foundry's homepage or do we have to register for it..

thanks
sarfraz

Monte carlo Analysis

the statistical model should be with the transistor model you can try to run monte carlo if it can not find the statistical model it will give an error "there is no mismatch varation in the statistical block" if this
happens try to find the kit manual there must be something about mc(monte carlo) section remember you run dc analysis before monte carlo
