Re: unlocking pic 16f873

I think it would be much cheaper to learn about application in which this micro is used and write your own code ..

Re: unlocking pic 16f873

google with "pic reader" key word and you will find some good links :)

Thanks

unlocking pic 16f873

Ianp
so is it tough to break into code or its impossible

Thanks haytham for suggestion i will and if i get something useful i will post here

Re: unlocking pic 16f873

use a close coupled radio reciever must recieve usb
to the clock freq of the chip

if its a pic16 then its 4/xtal clock

then you need also to disable any automatic gain devices

and turn it on youll hear the program load as a grrrrriiiiiip

this sound can be filtered back to a digital train

and this is infact the eeprom inside dumping to ram to exec

i know people who have done this
good luck

also ... as ian says its best to model the pic

there is software / hardware you can use to detract software from what the pins do on event

but best make your own it may work out better that the software inside

i also want to code my own software.
but my boss who has forced me to do this time wasting useless job of breaking pic lock bit and extract code from it.

Re: unlocking pic 16f873

lol

good luck

radio method works well for ANY micro controller

to actual read it
you would need to open the chip
and using a laser switch the code block protect fuse
not practicle

the other way to read it is thru the power inputs
by recovering data from them by causing voltage differences then amplified to form a logic level you can then or against the same clock
to recover the data again as it loads

there was many attempts to read pic84 chips till the F series came out
and they thought lots more about it

its just too hard to do it in code almost imposible
UNLESS you stumble across the method microchip must have built in {backdoor}
{conspiricy theory ... lol}

maybe youll be lucky
