Hello
I want to construct a hi impedance Voltage source,(0-1V) for which I identfied 1.5V battery with a external 1Gohm resistor in series, and a variable resistor accross which i will get required voltage.
is this sufficient or any other considarations?

Thankx

I'd reverse the sequence: variable resistor in parallel with the battery and 1GΩ resistor connected to the output of the variable resistor ..

hello ianp
With above sequence of combination, variable source will work, but any special care for groundind, shielding, etc..
Tks

I don't know what will be the usage of this device, but, of course, at this output resistance (impedance) levels you have to make sure that the circuit itself is mounted into a very well earthed metal (plated steel) enclosure (100% shield) ..
Also positioning of other equipment, such as notoriously noisy computers, should be carefully considered ..
It is almost like electrophysiology, so the best I can do at this stage is to give you good reference on laboratory techniques:
"Guide for Electrophysiology and Biophysics Laboratory Techniques"
https://www.moleculardevices.com/pdfs/Axon_Guide.pdf
In particular see Chapter 12 ..

IanP

hi ianp,

high impedence sources can be used for verifing of high input impedence opamps like CA3140

go to google for high input impedence opamps for IMPEDENCE MATCHING

regards king.
