microstrip transmission line length calculator

Can Any one help me out by providing the basic sketch of the Simulation of a microstrip transmission line preferably in MATLAB

what is distributed microstrip transmission line

Hi !

I don't think its possible to simulate a microstrip T.L. on matlab.

Do you have some experience of simulating a MW model in matlab?

Itzik

Hi ,
why not just use impendance and phase to describe microstrip line in MATLAB

Hi Cheng !

It's impossible to represent a microstrip T.L. with just impedance and phase becasue this T.L. is distributed and has phase accumulation as a function of a distant (length).
Its catagorized as distributed T.L. and not as lumped (discrete).

I can know for sure that you can simulate and calculate any discrete/lumped circuit with matlab (c) but never something distributed. (true for now)

Itzik

hmm. if Spice and other RF-simulators can handle TL fair well I not see impossibly to using matlab with simular algorithm/formula..

and if look on google I see many link if using ' matlab transmissions line' as search word.

Hello,

It's difficult to do what you called 'simulation of microstrip line using MATLAB', but if you just want to have a width and length value, for certain impedance and electrical length at certain frequency, you could get it from transmission line calculator from Microwave Office or ADS.

I've seen many links as well in www for microstrip line calculator.

Hi xxargs !!

I may say you right about the possibility of simulation T.L. in matlab.

But I may refer to it, still, as 'impossible mission' after knowing very powerful
tools design like CST, HFSS and even FEKO (a little bit).

For me its very frustrating to program (like C++ lang.) a given matrix which represent a T.L. phase characteristic.

You may not do this - let the ready MicroWave software to handle it for you.

Good Luck

Take a look at the book "stripline and slotline" by Gupta.
