strong device

Hi, I heard people saying a device is strong or weak.

How is a device characterized by weak or strong?
What are the properties of each devices....in terms of VDS, Rds...etc.
For example, in a given current, if device is strong, less VDS is required to be in saturation..etc...

thanks

example of strong devices

I think this is used to describe a device used in a digital circuit

A strong device is one having wider area and hence stronger pull-up/down capability ( i.e. lower on resistance )

whats strong device

I heard analog designers also use the term.
Anyone knows what this indicates?

what are strong devices

i think the strong and weak means the capability of converting voltage to current (Gm). the strong device has the larger Gm.

Strong device is the device that has higher current compare to the weak device for the particular size... strong or weak devices are defined by process variation...... For example variation in Vth, cj, tox or dl.... You can always check model library that provided by your fab....
