Reduce push pull current

Need your help. I want to reduce the current for the upper transistor in a push pull circuit. How can I achive this?
I've tried to put a big resistor before the upper transistor but eventually, the source current (i.e.- current flowing out from the push pull) will be extremely low.
Is there other way?
 

by push-pull, you mean pmos on top and nmos on bottom? This can't run in linear mode or you will have a lot of shoot-though current as both of the mosfets are on at the same time.

if you are making an op-amp, or something else that needs to give an output from GND to VDD you need a different output stage. if you REALLY want a rail-to-rail output stage you will need to use a class-AB output. This type of output stage drives the PMOS and NMOS gate differentially so there is no shoot-though current but it can still swing all the way up and down while driving a heavy load.

so - is your output voltage analog or digital?

if you want very large output current, u must have large current consumption.

my output voltage is analog and i'm making an op amp
 

u can ask chow from RSMDC for more detail.
 

just lower this stages voltage to its collector

use a regulator and some form of active feedback / foldback limiter
