*~*ask fm*~

can anbody please tell me if ASK falls into the AM category or ... it is a method of modulation itself.

thank you

Re: ASK, FM, AM ??

Obviously ASK falls into the general category of AM...But ASK is more commonly used when talking of digital communication...In analog it is usually AM or FM etc...

ASK, FM, AM ??

in ASK the modulating signal is binary therefore it is the same as AM but with binary mod. signal

Re: ASK, FM, AM ??

Jeffrey

Re: ASK, FM, AM ??

can anybody tell me if this is ask ? or ook ? and i dont really know what ook is ... can anybody please tell me. Thank you. the information is on the uploaded jpg. thank you so much.

Re: ASK, FM, AM ??

OOK is on off keying and implies only two states and therefore has one bit of data per symbol.

ASK is amplitude shift keying and can have several levels and therefore several bits of data per symbol.

Some military IFF systems have four levels.

Re: ASK, FM, AM ??

thank you for your reply. does that mean that ook is in ASK category but only with two levels ? on and off ? thank you

regards
Jeffrey
