USB Charger

M8,

I used my PS2 or PC to charge my MP3 player(Ipod). Instead of using pc, an external would be better and easy to carry. Can you share a circuit diagram of USB charger?

Thanks,
Litto

Re: USB Charger

Hi Litto43ph

The USB spec. for Vbus power is:

+4v40 to +5v25 @ 100mA.
Once a device has been configured the current available to it rises to 500mA.
Max and min capacitance on Vbus per device is 1µF to 10µF.

I suggest that a simple stabilised supply of 5v0 @ 500mA DC source would work satisfactorily.

I would also recommend a 6~7v varistor be placed across the output.

regards ... Polymath

USB Charger

so where's the circuit?

Re: USB Charger

USB chargers are available in Indian markets for just 30/- Rupees or 0.75 US dollars. You may directly use them with almost all your USB charging devices. If you are so keen building it yourself, use a 5 volts regulated supply in the same polarity as of the PC. Connect the 2 data pins of the charger to + track with 100K resistors. This setup is used to detect a valid charger by some of the devices. You can also have a look at a similar querry, answered by me at
