I need some information on current work going on regarding bandwidth/data rate improvement in field of digital communication.

Hello,
there are several works regard data rates and bandwidth, one of those topics, in which i currently work is Multi-rate multiple access communications, by which, you consider that the system contains number of users, and those users devided into several groups, the transmitted data rate is different in each group according to the transmitted media (voice, image, video,...etc).
