what is meaning by short channel of mosfet

thanks

it means that channel lenght is short :D,
u know the MOS is isolated gate device, where the gate potential "metal, infact polysilicon" is used to control the flow of the current in the MOS , the metal gate dimension are Length "L" and width "W" , the current is proportional to the aspect ration W/L"this means that aboslute values are not setting the current but the ratio(this is not really accurate but it is good for the explaination)" , as technology advance the dimension shrinks , this allow faster and smaller MOS "actually the freq. is inversly proportional to L, i.e. decreasing channel length increase ft ",in current techonlogy also called DSM "deep sub micron" the gate length is few hundereds "now tens" of nanometers this is really short length and hence the name.
