hi ,everyone

could someone give me some simple examples about simulation of EBG structures in IE3D?

thanks a lot!

Hi, gw_uestc:

On IE3D, you can define periodical boundary conditions if you have complete periodical structure. If the structure is finite, I think you have to run it as a full structure. Regards.

thanks for your help,jian
i am not very clear that how i set layers if there are some eched structures in the ground ,as we all know ,the background material is pec, right?

wish for your reply.

Hi, gw_uestc:

There are two approaches to solve the problem.

1. Modeling the EBG pattern on an infinite ground: You can define the background material as PEC. Then, you can define another infinite ground plane at some z-coordinate. You define the shapes of the EBG pattern's slots as polygons. This is the so-called magnetic current modeling.

2. Another way is to model the EBG structure as polygons. This way may be slower while it may be more accurate.

Best regards,

Jian
