in what stage did you get this log?

hahaha finally someone has the same problem could you post the specs of the PC that you are installing on

I am supecting that it is a problem with the compability issue on 64 bit computers or a issue with fedora core

you can copy a "sort" and a "tar" from RH9 to /bin and then can install, but can't run correct.
maybe copy some lib to FC5 from RH7 can solve the problem.

suggestion:

install on Red Hat 7.2-7.3-8 or 9
then copy all files to your FC5 installation

this way you should avoid the problems with the softload script
BUT i don't guarantee that were will not be any other problems....
(I have problems with IC5033 on FC5, related to glibc libraries)

sort bundled with fc5 is version 5.93 which no longer supports option of starting a key at postion +POS1 [-POS2], but the installation scripts require that option, so the installation fails when loading the cadence catalog.

Just copy older version of sort (eg. fc3) and temporarily replaces the /bin/sort and the installation will finish normally.

why not on RHEL3? it's ok
