Please give detail information about PC BASED FUNCTION GENERATOR which uses sound card and generates various wave forms. Please give me circuit diagram and software resources for this.

Thanking you,

Sangmeshwar

The simplist circuit is just a 3.5mm jack plug.

A soundcard output is not guaranteed to have a flat transfer characteristic across the range of frequencys it can produce and will vary between cards but is good enough for general use. Having effects like "3D sound" or support for a seperate bass speaker turned on is likley to change the frequency response or add distortion.

The output impedance is also undefined. For example soundcards tend to have a smallish DC blocking capacitor on the output so if it is driving a low impdance load the output will probably drop when prduce signals at les than 100Hz or so.

You could use an external buffer using an audio amplifer chip.

A win32 program under XP has to call the windows API's to output sounds.
You can use waveOutOpen, the midi API or directx.
