This is very popular these days but it's hard to get the information.
Does anybody know how I can get the information about LED driver "IC" design?

Check datasheets from MAXIM-DALLAS, Philips, NEC or National Semiconductors on LED Drivers.

It is actually a very simple array of Darlington Pairs or Superbeta Transistors. No rocket science in it.

Thanks Skyhigh.
I am not talking about simple seven segment LED driver IC. These are usually huge chips including switching regulators or charge pumps and are used for celluar phone backlight (white LED). I found many datasheets from Maxim, LTC, NS etc. But I didn't find basic design information like current matching between LED drivers.

I am sure Philips, STMicroelectronics, OmiVision, Dupont and other display manufacturers like ones in Taiwan and Korea has patented technologies and circuit on with release notes. You might need to check their websites.
In that case, the switch matrices of LED cells are perhaps something you need to consider first. There are several dimensions of standard LED display in the market, and the array of switch matrices conforms to each. To target low-power consumption, switching regulator and pulsed/duty-cycled power regulation are also carefully considered. The power network to LED cells has to be uniformly distributed as well.
