What is the right software to design a mixed signal IC design?

Mixed signal IC design

Plz refer to R Jacob Baker's book on mixed signal design especially on ADC

Cadence IC and Mentor ADMS are good tools for mixed signal design and simulation

Definitely cadence virtuoso....

The analog part can be in netlist format by schematic driven...and the digital part can be build using verilog coding....


Both different format can communicate each other uisng different hierachy

Not really agree with previous forumers.

You can do both analog and digital parts in Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre. However, it is unlikely to do the complex digital component in Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre. Usually simple digital components like latches for latched Flash A/D converter, or back-to-back inverters as memory, or other simple digital components.

The analog components are done in Cadence.

Mixed-Signal can be RF-Analog or Analog-Digital. Such would be PLL, A/D and D/A converters.

First I recommend cmos circuit design simulation and layout by jacob baker.
when you finish it you can go to Razavi's book for analog design.
For digital design you can refer to Jan Rabaey's book.

For mixed signal IC design, you can play with Cadence Verilog-AMS or sth else alike.

Well, Virtuoso can be used for Mixed signal IC layout.
Cadence Encounter is exclusively for Digital IC layout. I had opportuity to attend seminar on same hosted by Cadence.
