Hi folks ..

What are the differences between Build-Gates and RTL Compiler ?
 

as to algorithm, bg use old algorithm which is berkeley which is first focused on area but not timing and can also do local optimization.
rc use a new patent algorithm and can do global optimization.
and rc is powerful in area/power , and normally timing is better than bg/dc

strange to hear that RC is more powerful in area/power optimization than DC !! ..

Anyhow .. what about time closure ? .. is RC good in time analysis ? .. or do I have to use a seperate timing tool like in Synopsys ?
 

RTL Compiler's advantages:
1) timing optimization
--> from a) global synthesis, b) boundary optimization

2) area
--> from boundary optimization

3) power
--> from its low power synthesis infrastructure

4) capacity

5) runtime

Other advanced features
- PLE (physical layout estimator),
- Super threading
- Top-down MSV(multiple supply voltage) synthesis
- Multi-mode

Hi

RTL compiler cannot run on GUI mode
But, buildgates can run on GUI as well as in Command prompt(not GUI).
plz correct if i'am wrong.

RTL Compiler can run on GUI mode .. but it requires R&D license .. I believe you can run rc in GUI mode by typing rc -gui ..
