Designing a true rms to dc converter without dedicated chips

true rms to dc convertor

is there a way by which i can design a true rms to dc convertor without using dedicated chips for the same. like ad737 etc. i want to use simple op-amps etc. I'll would be really greatful to someone who can share some idea on this please.

Should be possible by using multipliers, integrators etc. Also it could be measured like in some RMS meters by measuring the amount of heat produced and converting to a DC value.
