Matlab GUI handles and hObject?

Hi all,

I am new to Matlab GUI.
Is handles shared by all the callback functions?
Why use guidata() to store data to hObject?

From workspace some hObject is a double data (like150.01)? What's it mean?
Does hObject represent a real Object?
