Hello!

Get the toner in a bottle for the device you require and pay attention that you get EXACTLY the toner for this model! Toner recipes vary in type, melting point, size, granulation etc. There are a lot of different toners around which all look very similar, but they all have different properties. Using the wrong toner can totally damage the optical unit, fixation unit and possibly the whole printer! So be VERY CAREFUL when buying the toner in a bottle.

Then get spare cleaning blades for the toner cartridge. Diassemble the toner cartridge, pay attention not to damage the optical drum! Remove the waste toner, replace the cleaning blade. Put some talkum powder on the optical drum to allow less friction. Reassemble the cartridge and fill it with new toner.

Of course this procedure is only interesting if you have to refill a huge pile of cartridges, it won't be useful for just a few of them.

If you have a higher printing volume consider buying a printer with a long lasting drum and separate developer unit (for example from Kyocera-Mita). These printers only require refilling the toner, not exchanging the whole optical unit with optical drum, developer and toner. When printing higher volumes the price of the printer itself doesn't count at all, only the consumables are important. For example the TK30H toner cartridge from Kyocera costs about 100 Euro and lasts for about 33000 pages, the cartridge for a HP Laserjet 4 costs about 80 Euros and lasts only 3000 pages. So the Kyocera printer prints at about 1/10 the price of the HP!
