patch antenna empire

Hello All,

Can some one help me on this

Simulation of a Microstrip Patch Antenna using EMPIRE-3D EM Simulator (project file required)

Problem Details:
A square Microstrip antenna etched on the above substrate (air) has a length of 63.7 mm and width pf 63.7 mm. A metal rod is used to connect the ground plane and the patch. This metal rod will have the same diameter has that of the inner diameter of the coaxial port.

The design frequency is 1.88 GHz. The feed point is exactly at the middle of the lower radiating edge of the patch see the attached fig 1.

Substrate Parameters:
Dielectric constant er=1 (air)
Loss Tangent = 0.003 (Relative permeability=1)
Substrate thickness is 10 mm
Metal Thickness 3.9 Mil
Conductivity of the metal is 5.7e7mho/mt

1. Design a coaxila port to match the input feed point of the antenna to a 50-Ohm Microstrip transmission line to be etched on the same substrate

2. Simulate the return loss of the antenna with the coaxila feed in the frequency of 1.2 GHz to 5 GHz using the EMPIRE-3D Simulation Software. Plot the results and comment on the return loss performance

3. Using the same software, simulate the far-field patterns of the antenna for 1.6 GHz and 1.88 GHz. Plot the patterns and comment on the observed radiation patterns.

Thanks in advance...

I think you should IE3D or Ansoft Designer or Momentum for 2.5D structure(microstrip fix antenna).
