SNR in audio applications?

calculating snr of audio

I am looking for references on how to calculate SNR, THD….. for audio applications. For example, if one wants to find the SNR of a condenser microphone what does he/she consider as noise? Does noise include the distortion caused by the non-linearity of the condenser or is noise the floor when no input is applied. I am asking since for example condenser microphone are often deliberately chosen to have a high non-linearity has the captures sound will sounds better to the human ear.

Does anyone can reference some papers that talk about measurement setup, and or evaluation of audio components?

I think you might want to start here ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microphone )-- not that you don't know a microphone -- but there are lots of relevant links here. This link is also good ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_system_measurements ), but I have not had the time to follow all the links. Seems like you need some practical information like an application note. Have you checked the Analog Devices Web site to see if they have any application notes related to audio?
