We, 4th yr elx student have this crazy idea of transferring data between two PCs(not in LAN) where two mobile phones acts as the transfering medium. Is it possible to interface mobile set with PC. Is it possible to transfer the data of PC through a medium meant for voice transmission i.e. mobile network.

We would like as many as ideas from you all for making this crazy idea a reality.

Primary Source[PC]<==>Secondary [Mobile phone]<==>Channel[Mobile Newtork]<==>Secondary Destination[Mobile phone]<==>Primary Destination[PC]

Thank you.

Re: Data Transfer betw PC using Mobile Network Project? help

thats really crazy... the cost:speed ratio will be high........

but its really exciting to do it.............

ofcourse i to worked on it... but gave up......
may be i can help u.......

think u can do it by DTMF ........
if u r using the nokia phone then u can use an usb cable to connect it to pc..

This would add a virtual COM port to ur pc...
then refer to nokia manual.. it has commands to dial a number.. send dtmf.. etc..

i saw a program on net that would connect two pcs using a phone line and transfer files.....

i wil post the links if i find it..........

Re: Data Transfer betw PC using Mobile Network Project? help

That's not difficult.

Near every movil-phone can be connected to a PC, and work as a normal modem.

With modems you can connect two PCs and transfer data using HyperTerminal and modem commands, for example.
