lecroy vs tektronix

What I choose? LeCROY WS434 vs. TEKTRONIX TDS3034B...

I use TEK oscilloscopes.
But now I can`t choose LeCROY WS434 or TEKTRONIX TDS3034B.

Could you share your opinion about LeCROY WS434?
Are WS434 better TDS3034B?

tektronix vs lecroy

Check the specs and see which one is actually better, or which one offers the best cost/ features ratio.
But LeCroy never impressed me (and the knobs are always in the wrong location). I would go with Tektronix anytime.

tds784

We chosen LeCroy Wavesurfer 500MHz 4Channel model and we already have an 350MHz 3 channel LeCroy Waverunner.
Wavesurfer has 10" touchscreen and WindowsXP running on it, so you can run your custom software on it. The thickness is the same but Wavesurfer has much bigger display, USB/Memory card slots.

and I heard that Tektronix has noise problems in this forum.

tektronix vs instek

Correct on the Tektronix noise problem. Try the scopes you are interested in by shorting the input and see how flat the trace is. The Tek has a work around for periodic waveforms with an averaging feature. This averages out any glitches you may be interested in. On the other hand, the Tek has a glitch trigger feature where you can do a single sweep trigger on pulse width and height criteria.

lecroy versus tektronix

Hi,

I just sold my TDS 784A DSO with full options (same problem of noise), I have a Tek 2465B Analog and I don't want to exchange it for any digital scope. When you need to wacht a "complicated" signal such as video or signal from special sensors you are missing really a lot of information on a DSO.

I really don't no if the DPO is really better, accorging to Tek they provide an extra dimension that is similar to an analog scope.

I like the TDS30xx serie, I got a demonstration recently on an exibition but they did not have any "complex" signal to show just a function generator with a "clean signal".

If I buy one it will be a TDS3054B (+/-8000€)

I like the new Hameg combined analog/digital, a really great instrument for only 1800€ but of course not FFT and other features but is FFT really usefull on an 8 bit converted signal?

Go on with Lecroy !
You won't regret this even if its price is higher !

tek 3054b

My TDS 3054B is noisy just like all its inbred cousins. It has lots of convenient acquisition and math features, but that scope will never replace my trusty Tek 2467B or 7104 with its shelf full of plug-ins.

The 3054B's FFT feature is occasionally useful, but it's no match for a good spectrum analyzer.

lecroy tek tektronix vs choice

Hi,

In the mean time I have a Lecroy 6100 (4 chanels 1Ghz and 10Gs) to test I will probably buy it.
My last DSO was a TDS784, I sold it mainly because this 1Ghz scope is unable to display a signal of a few µs with a periode that is quite large, it display the data almost random on the display, I thing it is a memory size problem.
I could perfectly display this on an analog scope and on a Fluke 123.

There is a huge difference with the Lecroy versus the TDS784 that I got and I think as well the TDS3000 serie. Maybe I should compare the Lecroy 6100 en the Tek 5000 or 7000 serie.

I like the Lecroy, menu's an knobs are more logic than Tek and the amplifier is not noisy like tek on low level signals.

Buy a Lecroy, better value for money, check the web site of Lecroy in the video area, the is a "life" comparaison between a TDS3054B and a Waverunner.

instek gds-820s

tds3034 has 9bits in verticle.I like tds3000 I think tds3000 series cost/ features ratio is nice.I think Instek GDS series is very bad oscilloscope with only 100MS/s in realtime.
