pic16f84 lvp

Hi,
I am new to PIC MCUs and have a weird situation on my hands. I'm trying to program the PIC16F876/'A. However here is the problem. Every time i read the device ICProg (1.05D) reports only 0000, attempting to write to the device only reports an error (Verified failed at 0000h). This is the case with 2 programmers (normal ICSP and LVP ICSP(lothar stolz)) with all of the applicable fuses set/cleared. Furthermore the same problem occurs on some other PICs (16F84 and 16F84A). Some other people on the net build the same circuits and it functions.

What can be the problem? I have tested every single wire individually to check for broken wires, alas this is not the problem. I'm thinking that it might be the PC I'm using (AMD64 3000+). Any help / ideas would be very much appreciated,

thanks in advance

Hello Slayerza,

Actually I encountered that Problem "VErified Failed at 0000h" before. However I use the JDM programmer and the problem was I set the COM Port option to COM2 to instead of COM1. Try to play on your IC Programmer software and find the COM port option, maybe you can trace your problem with the COM port option.

Thanks

I thought of the serial port problem, however that cannot be because my mobo only has one serial/COM port,

Thanks anyway

what is your software that yo uare using to program?? it can be the com port too, but I think its the software yo uare using

Hi!
Search for winpic800 software on google. it is the best software for programming PIC's. Supports a lot of different hardwares. Use it with JDM hardware.
Best of Luck.

Thanks for all of the sugestions, will try it and get back to you

cheers

Hi huys,
Software seems to have helped a bit, I can now program my old 16F84A however i don't think the programmer that i have is working for the 16F876A. Can you sugest a working programmer for this device.

Cheers
Slayer
