DC report question about total area value

hello.I find this in my DC synthesis report: total area: 5962.365827
I've searched in this forum,and the number of total area is said to be equivalent with the gate count.
But why the numbers after "." are not zero?
I am using .35um lib through the synthesis.

gate count = total area ( as in dc area report) / NAND gate area

but total area doesn't equal to gate count.

dc reports area using unit from your .lib file, so if the number is not a interger ,it means your lib use 'square of um' as area unit,not gate count.

the area unit depends on you lib,
in some lib, the area unit is transistors number,
but it is not absolutly, sometimes it is the are of transistors or other,

You need to divid 9.9192.it is ok.

Would u pls explain, why is it 9.9192? Where did u get this figure?

I have checked in solvnet and it is same as what anjali said.

where, gate count = total area (reported in DC) / NAND gate area

(*) the NAND gate area as defined in the technology library.

By the way, my DC synthesis report said the power of my chip which has a area of 30,000 gates ,is 2335 Watt.My tech lib is fujizu 0.25 um .Can any tell me what' s wrong with this. How can i modify my DC or lib setting to fix it.

really? I never heard DC can report power of chip. I think first of all you need to get the basic library information of your library, then try to figure out what happened. DC should have command to report these information, but i forget it.

our company also count according to this formula

Yes,

The area size is based on the lib.

Gate count = total_area/NAND2X1'area

total gate count is not equal to total area, it is equal to total area divided by nand gate area and
total area is equal to total cell area
