To connect the active to metal you use cc. Do you use cc to connect the poly to metal also?

Thanks

What is cc? Is it a layer? We usually use the same layer (Contact) to connect active to metal and poly to metal.

I know it should be a contact. But is it a cell name or a layer name? If it is a cell name, then it is possible that metal/active connection and metal/poly connection use different cells.

it depends on the technology, the contact and via names differ from AMS to TSMC, for example.

u can find the solution by reading the design rule file. the layer definition is different for different foundry.

Yes .
Generally you need a Poly Contact to make connection with metal......
Basic question , Read Books / Run Tutorials....

metal1 to poly is called contact
metal to metal is called via

Only use contact to connect poly and metal 1, and also the area of contact should meet the e-spec, and current flow density. connect different metal layer with via. Normally a good pdk will have a tech lib for the via, contact, ptab and ntab etc.
