bias startup circuit -patent

If a current reference circuit doesn't exit zero solution, does it need a startup circuit or not?

nile_king bandgap

Yes, if your circuits have no zero solution, then you don't need startup circuit.

Re: Need startup circuit for self-bias voltage/current refer

I prefere to use start-up sircuit with power saving technique even the circuit works well

Re: Need startup circuit for self-bias voltage/current refer

what is power saving technique?
can you give me some examples? thank you

Re: Need startup circuit for self-bias voltage/current refer

How can judge a circuit exits zero solution or not?

Thanks.

Re: Need startup circuit for self-bias voltage/current refer

if the circuit is self-biased it contains a zero solution. let's say your circuit uses an amplifier or level shift stage. if this current is set by the bandgap then the bandgap has to be running for that current to exist. also, that current must exist to allow the bandgap to run. this would be one instance of a zero solution.. no current = no bandgap = true.

now if the amplifier operates on a current generated somewhere else and fed into the cell, the current is always on, so the amp is always on regardless of whether the bandgap is on. now the bandgap is always brought into regulation since the output of the amp is true regardless of whether the bg is on or not.

what circuit are you using? it may be easier to see the archetecture and tell you how to start it up.

The power saving tech. that start-up circuit that works to let the main circuit run then after that it consumes no power and in layout it takes small area and u r sure that ur circuit will work well.
i will try upload paper for this
if u can reach first it's paper from motorola Indea

can you pvovide me a web link or homepage address? thanks.

Maybe u can open a chip to see. Any start-up circuit "works to make the main circuit start then after that it consumes no power ".

I'm sorry for answering late but for some problems
Here is the paper i talked about

yes, it need a startup circuit.
