hi

I am in need of help with my project i am using an analog ouput load cell and A/D converter ADC0804 and Atmel AT89C52 micon.

i can't seem to make the A/D work with the load cell output
how can i make it work or do i have to have the Bridge Transducer ADC for Load Cell as it is not available where i live
Has anyone worked on similar project before?
Any links, tips, etc will be appreciated

Thanks

What sensors are used in your load cell: strain gauges?
If yes, you need need good quality opamp or an instrumentation amplifier.
In some cases the gain will be in hundreds range.
Before I go any further correct me if my guess is wrong..

load cells

The 8 bit ADC is not enough for your load cell output without an amplifier. Typical load cells have 2mV/V full scale output. That mean that if you supply the load cell with 5 V at full load you will get around 10 mV output.
You will need to amplify the signal with a precision AO, or use a 16 bit (or more) ADC without amplification.
I recommend to use ratiometric reference for ADC.

Re: load cells

use AD7730 for direct sensor-->digital solution.

No external components and amplifier or active filter is needed. It have all you need.

Hi emmos
Analog Dievec have a spitial instrumentation amplifier for load cell app whit advance
Temp. compensation and ..
Try it.
