it's my first time to tape out, so I want to know what should I test before I test block function? maybe some open short test... Thanks

Re: help: What should I do before block test in analog tape

DRC (obviously) with all possible combination of "switches"
LVS (in case of cadence DIVA do not extract with connect net with the same name option)
You can run ERC if you have techfiles to do so.
Plot the layout and check the "weak spots"
check metal width and vias for current densities.
check the edgeseal/chip extent rules
Have layout review with somebody who did it before

stream out, stream in and re-run DRC and LVS

pray for few weeks and after devices will arrive hope they work.

So far in those 10 years it worked out for me.

Hi,

Make sure all you're pcells are well evaluated before stream out.
Another things: display active, implant, every kind of well, trench. Look at all your chip like that and you will certainly find some strange things you didn't view before. Do the same with metalization.
Check that all your wells are connected. Some kit still have difficulties with that. Do a stream compare if you have a tool for.

The post layout simulation is needed too

Thanks for all your reply.
I mean the test chip has arrived back. I will test it next few days.
Can I connect the supply to the chip without any extra test?

Re: help: What should I do before block test in analog tape

1. u should first do some DC test of ur chip. like open , short test with ur meter.
2. secondly, u should test ur testing board with DC test too, this will insure u that the testing circuit is good before u add ur chip in the testing board.
3. mount ur chip, and good luck.

Re: help: What should I do before block test in analog tape

Thanks.
And do you have characterization report model for analog IC test ?
or could you give me a link about this report model?

When you connect the chip, make sure that the power supply is giving you 'zero' current. Increase this slowly. don't start off with vdd set to give you unlimited current.

Run a DC open/short on the chip itself when it is not mounted.

Run a DC open short test on your PCB FIRST!!!

Use an antistatic wrist-band OR touch the properly grounded instrument panel ground every 1 minute(Metal please)
don't wear nylon sweaters and joggers, be on an antistatic surface pad if available.

about the char. report , depends on what you are testing.

If self-test was not built-in, then think about it next time you do a tape out.

Use battery powered circuits for supplying stable references. or high qual. power supplies.
