can you tell me if its possible to build my own gsl network
i know its difficult but ive got all this summer to do it
if it will be ok i would also reprogram the sim cards for my operator here to let the phone work on both networks and detect calls from both

sounds crazy guys but i'm sure u can help me .

regards

>can you tell me if its possible to build my own gsl network
Yes, if you can afford the base station equipment and you can
persuade the government in your country to give you a license
and a frequency allocation.

The GSM bands in your country are probably already allocated
to existing carriers. If you start transmitting on the
frequencys of existing phone networks they will find you.

I don't think that's possible unless you have a roaming
agreement with the existing networks. Standard SIMs cannot
be reprogrammed.

how can the frequencies be allocated , how can multiple operators afford the same gsm service

i wanna build a small network (a 100 meter one or so ).
its not a problem if i can't reprogram the sim card
i would use another cell .
here (in tunisia) there r 2 operators . mine uses the 1989 mhz (asc) and the 1925 (desc).

i hope i can get more details and help
thanks

what i want is to use my cell to call another cell phone
i already did cordless radio phones
thanks anyway

try bluetooth frequency band?
I'm designing a experiment-oriented gsm network for my vocational school!
Maybe I can help you!

ok souds good , but i've got no idea about bluetooth
i would be soo thankful if u can help me
thanks

Guys, are you joking ?))

GSM network consist of at least 4 nodes - BTS, BSC MSC and HLR. Functionality of all these nodes must be implemented

it is not needed to reprogram SIM to work on different bands .

2 network usage at the same time - you need 2 radio and controlling modules - not possible to listen to 2 paging channels if they are comnig at the same time .

Last , what is the relation between blue tooth and GSM ?

Is it spam ? Good luck to you, if it is not.))

no artem , its not spam . i know it sounds crazy and i said that from the beginning .
but for my micro electronic enngineer diploma i have to work on a project and i just wanted to build somethin good . i've got 2 years left to complete a nice project .
for the gsm network , i didn't want the phone to listen to both signals at the same time
, what i mean is , using ur phone , u search for the active networks and then u choose the one u wanna use , thats all .
now i have some questions guys : do i need informations about other operators working here to get my gsm network working ? , if so , i won't get nothing from them.
is there a maximum number of operators that they can't exceed ?
if someone thinks i 'll never get it working plz tell me and tell why , it could be useful , coz i dun wanna loose much of my time in somethin impossible . i'm ready although to read any book u advice to . thanks a lot guys.

Max number of operators is not restricted actually , it is matter of frequency channel allocation and length of mobile network code MNC which is id of operator within particular country .

What you have to do :

- need to find base station with gsm codec installed within . If codec is separated - you need to have own in node you are going to design to control BTS.
- need to implement "node" connecting to that base station . Node should support handling of Abis interface signalling , DTAP and initial MS messages
- If you are not planning to implement ciphering you wont need for SIM specific data. Just IMSI
- Node you need must support physical connection to that BTS . It could be ATM or PCM or ....

Regarding info about other operators freqs - i have heard that there is Nokia mobile sniffer software available on the net . So you can download it and put into phone . It will allow to see frequences and operators info , that is will be enough info to you.

Hi,

I need to build a hardware (a gsm server or somthing) to be connected to PC so that i can send text messages from my cell phone to the pc via that gsm hardware, anybody has any idea about how can i do that? is there any schematics? thank you in advance.

hi friend,
I'm interested to make cordless radio phone.
