Symbol update in cadence

After I create a symbol for a schematic, then I add a pin.

How can I update the symbol to add an extra pin ?

Re: Symbol update in cadence

I think you have to update the symbol manually by adding the pin and then check and save.

Symbol update in cadence

u have to add a pin in the schematic and then u can add a pin in the already created synbol.if u dont want to do this, then delete the previous symbol and then create a new symbol with the pin added to the schematic.

Re: Symbol update in cadence

First, you can add the pin in your schematic.
Second, you should re-create the symbol and don't choose update symbol.

Then you will get a new symbol.

Re: Symbol update in cadence

yibinhsieh gave you the best answere. you have to be carefull when you update the symbol because adding pins by hand on a previously created symbol can cause problems when you export schematics in cdl format and then use this format for verifications. be very carefull especially with busses because the pins inside one bus are added in chronological order so is you expand a bus you could get in cdl two busses with the same name instead of one. this is oooooooooonly an example of what can happend if you don update a symbol in the corect way.
